Emergency Response Efforts Prove Worthwhile

As reported on CNN, "A powerful earthquake struck western Indonesian Tuesday, killing at least 70 people and injuring hundreds more as buildings collapsed. It is feared that the death toll could rise sharply. One official said "tens of thousands of people" were likely to be affected. The 6.3-magnitude quake, which was followed by several strong aftershocks, forced thousands to flee their homes near the epicenter on Sumatra island."
Power lines and communication were cut to the affected region. Indonesian television showed widespread damage to buildings, including a hospital that had to be evacuated. No tidal activity has occurred. Troops have been deployed to help survivors and hunt for victims while emergency medical supplies are being dispatched to the region.
An IFAW Assessment Team was preparing to leave the Jakarta area following their work with CARE in the flooded regions when the quake occurred. Dr Aditya of CARE made contact with a colleague who is also a vet and a government official for animal issues. He conducted a preliminary assessment and has requested the resources of CARE and IFAW.
Dr. Mona and a fourth year vet student will join IFAW team of Dick Green and Jennifer Miller and depart Jakarta tomorrow morning at 0800. They will be met at Padang at 0900 and drive to the Solok area which experienced the greatest damage. The area is home to a large number of cattle and dogs and preliminary information is that they were significantly impacted by the quake.
The IFAW team will conduct the assessment, establish objectives, and attempt to prepare a plan of action by 1800 10 March.

It's really good I must say, but could you open IFAW specificly in Indonesia? can you also do this program continuely and not only in Jakarta, serpong perhaps? and 1 more thing can you do something about cats and dogs being thrown in freeways???? please its killing me..
